Vietnam’s textile & apparel exports inch up 2.9% in Q1’2026

According to data of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports inched up 2.9% year on year to US $10.57 billion in the first quarter of 2026.

The growth in the January to March 2026 period came from a strong boost in March 2026 exports which touched $3.86 billion, surging by 36% over February 2026 and growing 5.8% as against March 2025.

Segment wise, clothing exports generated $8.18 billion in the quarter under review, rising by 2.2% year on year and apparel accessories clocked double digit growth at 11.8% to reach $382 million.

Fibre exports totaled $1.09 billion, up 5%, while fabric exports reached $719 million, increasing 3.9% and nonwoven fabrics brought in $199 million, growing by 4.2%.

In the quarter, Vietnam exported textile and clothing products to 138 countries in 2025, with the US emerging as the top export destination.

In order to achieve the export target of $49 billion in 2026, VITAS recommended diversifying export markets, invest in technology and artificial intelligence, while also investing in green technologies.
