A PM MITRA Park at Warangal in Telangana was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Developed at a cost of Rs 1,695.54 crore, it is India’s first functional PM MITRA Park.
The Park which is spread across 1,327 acres is located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Expressway and offers multimodal connectivity to major railway lines and ports, which will help in seamless logistics.
The Park has state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes an extensive internal road network, dedicated power substation, assured water supply and a Common ZLD Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP).
Prime Minister Modi stated that the PM MITRA Park would provide a boost to the Indian textile industry, while also generating large-scale employment opportunities, particularly for women.
The Park is expected to attract investments of around Rs 6,000 crores. Around 62% of plots have already been allotted and is anticipated to create 24,400 jobs.
The Telangana government had proposed the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) at Warangal for selection under the PM MITRA Scheme in March 2022.
After KMTP received approval under the PM MITRA scheme, KMTP got eligibility for development capital support of Rs 200 crore and Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) of Rs 300 crore for those setting up projects in the Park.
Out of the total 548 acres, 310 acres has been allocated after the announcement of the PM MITRA Park.
