In April 2026, Chinese imports of cotton stood at 165.3 KT, growing by a massive 106% or 105 KT, year on year, but declined by 10% month on month.
Brazil accounted for 56% of cotton imported by China in April 2026. Imports from Brazil amounted to 93.7 KT, up by a spectacular 331% over a year ago month, but down 12.25% over March 2026.
According to Chinese Customs data, imports of US cotton totaled 24.5 KT in April 2026, rising by 7 KT and 11 KT over April 2025 and March 2026, respectively.
While, imports from Central Asia stood at 16.2 KT, up 15 KT over the same month of 2025 and year-on-year and 4 KT over its previous month.
In the January to April 2026 period, Chinese cotton imports reached 712 KT, a surge of 78.9% over the same period of the previous year.
