Cotton Outlook’s projection of global cotton output in 2026/27 was increased by a further 185,000 tons in June, to 25.64 million tons.
This is the result of estimates of higher production in the United States, partially offset by a reduction for Pakistan.
The consumption projection was increased modestly to 26.16 million tons as a result of which, there would be a reduction of global stocks by the end of the next marketing year of 517,000 tons.
For the current cotton season, global production has been maintained at 26.56 million tons, while consumption was raised by 271,000 tons to 26.49 million tons owing to adjustments for several major markets.
The estimated addition to global stock levels by August 31, 2026, has therefore narrowed further, to 71,000 tons.
