Silvassa expansion set to fuel Sanathan Textiles push into high-margin yarns

Date:

Sanathan Textiles is gearing up to bring a major expansion online at its Silvassa unit, where technical textiles yarn capacity will be doubled from 9,000 metric tons to 18,000 metric tonnes per annum.

With construction work already finished and equipment installation complete, the facility is on track to begin commercial production by August 2026,

This move at Silvassa signals a deliberate strategic shift toward higher-margin technical textiles, coming at a time when the company’s polyester yarn facility in Punjab is already up and running.

Rather than competing in the crowded conventional yarn space, the expanded output at Silvassa will be channelled into technical textiles.

The yarn will be designed for niche, fast-growing end-uses—spanning automotive manufacturing, defence equipment, agricultural applications and performance sportswear.

The Silvassa plant’s location gives it a natural advantage for both domestic distribution and export shipments, thanks to its closeness to major ports along India’s western coastline.
