In the first six months of the ongoing year, the US imported textiles and garments totaling $51 billion. Of this $8.7 billion, up 2.9% year over year originated from Vietnam, whilst $6.6 billion, down 29.7%, came from China.
This ensured that Vietnam retained the top importing country spot which China was holding since a very long time.
Bangladesh held onto its position as the third-largest supplier to the USA, notwithstanding a 5.3% year on year dip in import value, ahead of India, whose imports fell 23.3%.
In the first half of 2026, the EU bloc was the fifth largest exporter of textiles and apparel to the US at $2.9 billion, up 10.8% against the comparable period of previous year.
US imports of textiles and garments from Indonesia came next with up 3.6%, from Cambodia increased 11.3%, while that of Pakistan fell by a marginal 1.7% and imports of Mexico were also down 6.7%.
