Uzbekistan’s textile and garment sector earned US $2.1 billion from overseas sales between January and August 2026, a leap of 26.9% on the corresponding eight months of 2025, according to provisional figures from the National Statistics Committee.
The industry contributed 9.4% of the country’s aggregate export earnings over the period, the committee noted.
Within the textile and clothing exports basket, garments and home textiles dominated by making up 51.4% of shipments. Yarn followed with 32.2%, while knitted fabrics took 8%, woven fabrics 6%, socks 2% and carpets 1%.
Viewed through the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC), the division covering textile yarn, fabrics, made-up articles and related products generated $1.31 billion, up 24.7%.
Sales of clothing and accessories climbed 25.7% to $848.1 million. By contrast, textile fibres and waste fell back to $42.9 million, only 72.7% of the level recorded a year earlier.
“On the inbound side, imports of textile yarn, fabrics and associated products came to $407.4 million, 9.4% higher,” UZ Daily reported.
Garment imports grew 21.8% to $98.6 million, whereas textile fibre and waste imports slid to $53.6 million, or 83.7% of the previous year’s figure.
Across the whole economy, Uzbekistan’s merchandise exports for January–August 2026 stood at $22.9 billion, 3.4% below the prior year.
