Indian textile start-up IndigoTex has closed a Rs 5 crore round headed by IAN Angel Fund, the evergreen vehicle of IAN Group. SIDBI, FITT and IIT Delhi Angels also joined the investor line-up.
The company will channel the proceeds into setting up its factory and production lines, growing its sales and operations teams, and taking IndiWool Denim and washable wool and poly-wool fabrics to commercial launch.
Money will also go on further research and product development, on the certifications needed in home and overseas markets, and on groundwork for scaling up.
IndigoTex was established in 2024 by Satendra Singh, Prof. B.S. Butola and Dilip Singh. The trio are shaping a deeptech base for Indian textile manufacturing, concentrating on high-value, export-focused products and technologies.
Its range covers novel wool and technical textiles alongside sustainable production methods, all aimed at practical problems of comfort, performance and fabric processing.
Denim meets wool
According to the company, IndiWool Denim pairs denim’s toughness and flexibility with the warmth and comfort wool is known for.
Versions run from low-wool blends built for year-round wear to wool-rich constructions targeting colder regions.
IndigoTex has signed non-disclosure agreements with Ralph Lauren and France’s Kering Group, and is in live talks with premium and luxury labels, garment makers, fabric exporters and sourcing houses.
Washable wool and the Sonipat plant
The firm is also developing ECOTEX Wool, a technology producing washable wool and poly/wool cloth and so reducing wool garments’ traditional reliance on dry cleaning.
A finishing line is being installed at its production site in the Rai Industrial Area, Sonipat, Haryana.
IndigoTex said the plant will help it scale up its waterless wool finishing process and begin commercial output of washable wool and poly/wool fabrics.
Research and development, meanwhile, will remain at the Research and Innovation Park at IIT Delhi.
Looking abroad
IndigoTex is now starting to establish an overseas footprint, with engagement across Europe and in cold-climate markets such as Australia.
Talks and collaborations have begun in France, Russia and Denmark, and the company intends to strengthen its position across Europe, North America, Australia and other chillier regions.
Founder’s view
Satendra Singh, co-founder and CEO of IndigoTex, said: “We sincerely thank every investor who took part in this round and placed their faith in IndigoTex. The funding is a significant milestone as we build a deeptech textile company in India for global markets.”
“Going forward, integrity, sustainable growth, a customer-first approach and responsible use of capital will remain central to our decisions. We are determined to use this backing to strengthen R&D, scale our textile innovations, move into technical textiles and create products that solve real-world problems,” he added.
