Non-cotton apparel captured a growing 30.7% of Bangladesh’s overall ready-made garment shipments across the January-September period of 2026, as demand from global fashion labels and high-street buyers strengthened steadily, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
Overall garment shipments from Bangladesh in the nine months to September this year totalled $29.91 billion in all.
Cotton products contributed $20.75 billion, or 69.3%, whereas non-cotton lines brought in $9.17 billion, equivalent to 30.7%, the data indicate.
The non-cotton share climbed through the year. It averaged 28% in January and February, crossed 30% for the first time in June at 31.6%, and peaked at 34.6% in August before easing to 32.6% in September.
“According to the data, July marked the peak month for non-cotton shipments in value terms, at $1.31 billion,” Daily Star reported.
Even so, cotton remains very much the sector’s mainstay, with monthly shipments of between $1.97 billion and $2.6 billion across the nine-month period.
