Chinese cotton yarn exports (HS code 5205) moved back into positive territory in September 2026, the first such result since the middle of the year.
Export volumes reached 19,500 metric tonnes, a gain of 0.19% against the same month last year and up 20.94% over August 2026.
The month-on-month recovery was largely underpinned by seasonal stock replenishment, together with firmer purchasing from Vietnam and Cambodia.
In September, the three principal combed categories (combed 54.8-66s, combed 66s and above, and combed 30.4-46.6s) accounted for 10,110 metric tonnes.
That equated to 51.98% of overall exports, a drop of 14.08% from a year earlier.
“Pakistan retained its position as leading destination with a 31.58% share, although this was 16.17 percentage points lower year-on-year,” CCF Group reported.
Vietnam and Bangladesh jointly took 28.62%. Taken together, consignments to Pakistan, Vietnam and Bangladesh came to roughly 11,700 metric tonnes, or 60.2% of the total, 13.64% below the prior-year figure.
Performance by market was uneven as buyers across the region recalibrated their orders. Cotton yarn exports to Pakistan were down 33.74% year on year, to Bangladesh dipped 2.45%, to Vietnam was up 24.69%, while those to Cambodia grew higher at 34.89%.
Overseas shipments of cotton yarn over the first nine months totalled 146,800 metric tonnes, 13.81% below the corresponding period of 2025, reflecting a generally subdued demand backdrop.
