Brazil concluded the 2025/26 cotton marketing year with the highest volume of cotton exports ever recorded. The country shipped 3.37 million tonnes of the fibre between August 2025 and July 2026.
This figure represents a 19% increase over the previous cotton year when 2.84 million tonnes were exported. These sales generated approximately US $5.3 million in revenue for the cotton trade.
The Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (ABRAPA) hailed the close of the cotton marketing year as a historic milestone for the sector.
A combination of large-scale production, quality, and high supply has expanded the country’s presence in foreign markets.
Meanwhile, Brazilian cotton production for the 2025/26 crop year is expected to reach 4.178 million tonnes of lint, according to data released by the National Association of Cotton Exporters (ANEA) in August.
This projection represents an increase of 172,000 tonnes over the 4.006 million tonnes, ANEA estimated in its June projections.
The revision reinforces the outlook for another harvest exceeding 4 million tonnes and comes against a backdrop of Brazil maintaining high shipment volumes to the international market.
