Chinese company Hengyi Petrochemical develops biodegradable polyester fibre

Date:

Hengyi Petrochemical Research Institute has independently developed a biodegradable polyester fibre and also obtained several innovation patents for the fibre.

This fibre utilises a green process and, as confirmed by testing institutions, exhibits a relative biodegradability rate exceeding 90% within 180 days in a composting environment.

Ultimately, it can completely degrade into carbon dioxide and water, eliminating microplastic pollution at its source.

In terms of product performance, the fibre fabric is soft, skin-friendly, breathable, and comfortable, and has excellent washability, meeting the needs of various wearing scenarios such as sports and leisure.

At the same time, its entire manufacturing process achieves low energy consumption and low emissions, which help brands build a green management system for the entire production cycle from raw materials to finished garments.

Hengyi and Chinese apparel retailer Anta have also collaborated and launched a sportswear range from the fibre at the Anta Zero Carbon Mission Store in Shanghai.
