Garment exports drag down India’s June textile & apparel overseas shipments

Date:

In June 2026, Indian textile exports increased by nearly 9% year on year, but a sharp drop of 11.25% in garment exports, drove down cumulative textile and clothing exports during the month.

A Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) report revealed that total textile and apparel exports stood at US$2.91 billion in June 2026, up a marginal 0.21% over the same month last year.

The same trend was repeated in the April to June 2026 quarter when textiles exports reported a growth of 5.19% over the same quarter of previous fiscal, while apparel exports slipped 12.44%.

As a result, overall textile and clothing exports during the first quarter of fiscal 2027 were down 2.95% to $8.81 billion from $9.08 billion from a year earlier quarter.
