Mumbai, July 1, 2025 — The 17th edition of HGH India was inaugurated today in Mumbai, marking the return of the highly anticipated Indian Heritage Pavilion—a dedicated platform celebrating India’s timeless artistry and craftsmanship. The trade show, which will continue till July 4th, once again placed the spotlight on the country’s diverse cultural and weaving traditions that have flourished for centuries.
Over the last 10 editions, the Indian Heritage Pavilion has emerged as a cornerstone of HGH India’s commitment to promoting indigenous artisans, enabling them to connect with retailers, architects, interior designers, and institutional buyers. This year’s showcase continued that legacy by featuring an exceptional range of handcrafted works across categories such as metal, wood, terracotta, ceramic, glass, bamboo, coir, jute, textiles, and embroidery, all created using natural and eco-friendly materials.
The Pavilion brought together National Award-winning artisans and Master Crafts persons from across the country, offering visitors an authentic and inspiring glimpse into India’s craft traditions:
- Smt. Shyamalata Gahlot from Rajasthan displayed her intricate Koftgiri artistry—gold and silver inlay work on furniture, lamps, and lifestyle accessories.
- Shri Ram Soni from Alwar, honoured with a National Award in 2002, Shilp Shiromani Award in 2008, UNESCO Award in 2012, Surat Samman in Gujarat, and several other accolades, showcased the intricate art of Sanjhi Papercutting. Widely recognised for his efforts in preserving and popularising this ancient art form nationally and internationally, his presence added immense value to the Pavilion.
- Smt. Sutapa Bhunia from Mumbai showcased her elegant hand embroidery, highlighting a fine blend of tradition and contemporary aesthetics.
- Shri Mohammad Matloob from Delhi, honoured with the prestigious Shilp Guru Award, captivated attendees with his exquisite wood carving work.
The Indian Heritage Pavilion not only celebrated India’s artistic diversity but also fostered long-term sourcing opportunities and collaborations between creators and design professionals. As the trade show continues over the next three days, the Pavilion is expected to remain a key attraction for those seeking authentic, handmade, and sustainable design solutions rooted in Indian heritage.
