In April 2026, Indian textile and apparel exports fell 3.42% year over year to US $2.88 billion in April 2026.
So, while garment exports slipped 11.66% from a year ago month to $1.21 billion, textiles shipments grew 3.59% to $1.67 billion, which helped reduce the impact of overall textile and clothing exports.
“In the month under review, cotton yarn, fabrics, and made-ups reached $968.38 million, rising by a marginal 0.57% over April 2025,” data from Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) informed.
Shipments of manmade yarn and fabrics totaled $392.77 million, growing by 2.34%, while handicraft exports reported a spectacular growth of 26.22% and amounted to $154.73 million in April 2026.
Exports of carpets also reported positive growth to rise to $126.28 million in April 2026 to grow by 9.93% year on year.
