Milestone achieved: AMANN Group opens new sustainable, state-of-the art production site in Ranipet/India

Ranipet, 18 th April 2024 – AMANN Group Germany has achieved a major milestone. The company’s first production plant in Ranipet/India has officially opened. It is THE most sustainable facility in their portfolio equipped with state-of-the-art technology to protect the environment. In Ranipet, AMANN will produce sewing- and embroidery threads of the highest quality for leather and apparel applications.

AMANN officially opens its first production plant in India in Ranipet/Tamil Nadu. AMANN has been represented in India since 2007 with sales offices in Chennai, Bangalore and Gurgaon. Today, the company is taking its business one step further and starts to manufacture its products in India preliminary for India.

Peter Morgalla, Member of the AMANN Board of Management and Chairman of AMANN India: “We are very proud to put this plant into operation today. We have closed the gap and are now able to offer our customers a comprehensive network of sales offices, delivery options and short lead times throughout Asia. Moreover, we will also provide Technical Advisory Services for our customers to exploit the full potential of our products.”

  • Location: Ranipet/Vellore in Tamil Nadu within the “leather belt”
  • Product scope: high quality sewing and embroidery threads for leather and apparel applications
  • Production site space: 32,000 square meters
  • Employees: 200

Not a single drop of wastewater into the ground
The investment into its new production site reflects on AMANN’s serious commitment towards the environment. The latest production technologies reduce the amount of wastewater to a minimum.

Sustainability profile of the new plant:

  • Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) purifying 100 % of the extracted water
  • Energy supply from 100 % renewable sources

By using Zero Liquid Discarge (ZDL), all extracted water remains in a closed cycle system. Only 9% of fresh water has to be replenished due to evaporation. Energy demand is mostly covered by a comprehensive photovoltaic system, additional demand is supplied by a nearby wind and solar park. The boiler for steam production – important for the dyeing process of the threads – operates with biomass.
