Pearl Global expands Bangladesh garment plant capacity by 7 million pieces

Date:

India headquartered Pearl Global Industries (PGIL) has bolstered its Bangladeshi production base, by starting a new garment factory while enlarging its sustainable laundry operation, which now lifts total installed output across all its territories to roughly 108 million units a year.

The additional Bangladeshi factory is set to contribute about seven million garments annually once running at peak efficiency, further extending the apparel exporter’s spread of plants across South Asia, South-East Asia and Central America.

Pulkit Seth, Vice-Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Pearl Global Industries, said that the group would channel strategic capital investment into seizing growth opportunities in Bangladesh and consolidating its standing in a key sourcing market.

Bangladesh, Seth noted, continues to power the group’s expansion, underpinned by trade access to leading worldwide markets. He added that the new capacity would sharpen the company’s capability to supply international buyers and create a platform able to scale output.

Alongside this, the firm is enlarging its own sustainable laundry facility in Bangladesh, a step intended to raise operating efficiency, trim washing expenses and cut water use.

Managing Director Pallab Banerjee said the new plant lets Pearl Global tap into Bangladesh’s mature apparel manufacturing ecosystem and its skilled, economical labour force while also meeting the shifting needs of overseas customers.

The company said the laundry extension should deliver a return on capital employed (ROCE) of roughly 18-20%.

Pearl Global said the added capacity further reinforces its ability to offer clients a diversified sourcing and manufacturing platform spanning several different countries.
