Date:

  • RISE and key global partners visited ShinWon’s Guatemala operation
  • Review of women worker empowerment initiatives, ESG and financial literacy & savings programs
  • ShinWon remains the only apparel vendor serving on the RISE Steering Committee

(Seoul, South Korea – December 18th, 2025) – ShinWon Corporation (CEO: JJ Park), a leading global apparel manufacturer, hosted representative from RISE (Reimagining Industry to Support Equality), global brands and key partners at its Guatemala subsidiary, Fashion Stitch Guatemala, S.A. (FSG), to review workplace conditions and discuss strategies to advance women workers’ rights.

TAs RISE expands its programs across Central America, the visit provided an opportunity for leading industry buyers and suppliers to reiterate their sector-wide commitment to advance equality across the sector through an evidence-based approach and collaborative dialogue.

Global partners assess women-focused initiatives on site
RISE accelerates equality for low-income workers in global garment supply chains through collaboration with industry stakeholders and a firsthand understanding of workers’ needs and priorities. Since its launch in 2023, RISE has supported over one million workers globally through its data-driven programs. JJ Park, CEO of ShinWon, is the only vendor-side representative serving as a global Steering Board member.

Attendees included ShinWon executives, RISE representatives, and core partners such as GAP Inc., Target and several NGOs like Pro Mujer. The delegation toured production lines, reviewed factory operations, and exchanged insights on developing a localized brand-vendor-NGO collaboration model tailored to Guatemala.

Strong recognition for women’s empowerment and sustainability programs
Delegates highlighted FSG’s initiatives to reduce environmental impact through improved energy usage and sustainability-focused operational practices.

To support women’s social and economic empowerment, ShinWon operates a comprehensive Social Compliance program. This includes financial literacy training for workers with limited access to digital financial services and the company contributes 2% to employees’ deposits—helping workers unfamiliar with formal financial systems build long-term financial stability.

The company-operated welfare store, S-Mart, also drew strong interest. By offering essential goods at prices below local market rates and ensuring convenient access before and after shifts, S-Mart helps reduce household burdens and is regarded internally as one of the company’s most valued employee-benefit programs.

ShinWon commits to inclusive ESG performance with RISE and global partners
“This visit provided meaningful confirmation of how our women worker support framework, built in collaboration with RISE and global partners, is being implemented on the ground.” CEO Park stated, “We will continue working closely with our partners to strengthen worker capability-building and improve workplace conditions across our supply chain.”

ShinWon operates 15 entities across 10 countries—including Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh—employing more than 30,000 people worldwide. The company also runs a DEI&B Committee to promote gender equality and enhance women workers’ welfare, reinforcing its commitment to an inclusive, ESG-driven management approach.
