Trident Group Chairman Emeritus Rajinder Gupta’s Strategic Role in Punjab’s Economic Planning Extended to 2028

National 16th June 2025 : In a significant reaffirmation of leadership and vision, the Punjab Government has extended the tenure of Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group, as Vice Chairman of the Economic Policy and Planning Board, in the rank of Cabinet Minister, for another three years, until August 22, 2028.

The extension, granted by the Honourable Chief Minister of Punjab, underscores the state’s continued trust in Shri Gupta’s strategic foresight, business acumen, and unwavering commitment to Punjab’s socio-economic advancement. The decision comes at a pivotal juncture as Punjab accelerates public-private partnerships, industrial growth, infrastructure development, and youth employment initiatives.

A globally respected industrialist and philanthropist, Shri Rajinder Gupta has consistently championed sustainable growth, entrepreneurship, and grassroots development. Under his stewardship, Trident Group has grown into one of India’s leading conglomerates with a global footprint across textiles, paper, and chemicals — setting benchmarks in innovation, inclusivity, and ESG-led progress.
This extension reaffirms Shri Gupta’s pivotal role in shaping Punjab’s economic blueprint, one that aligns with India’s national development goals and places the state firmly on the global growth map.

Shri Rajinder Gupta is widely recognized for his contribution to entrepreneurship, employment generation, and rural industrialization, particularly in Punjab and central India. He has been associated with several public policy and advisory roles in the past. His previous term as Vice Chairman saw key inputs in the formulation of Punjab’s industrial policy, investment promotion, infrastructure development, and sustainable economic strategies.
