(Seoul, South Korea – August 7 th, 2025) – ShinWon Corporation (CEO: JJ Park), a leading global apparel manufacturer, has launched urgent relief activities for employees affected by multiple earthquakes in Guatemala during July, demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility at the community level.

More than 150 tremors—ranging from magnitude 3.0 to 5.7—shook the San Vicente Pacaya area and surrounding regions, where ShinWon’s local subsidiary, SHINWON GT, S.A. is located. In response, the company immediately assessed the impact on all employees, confirming that many workers suffered property damage including collapsed roofs, damaged walls, and broken furniture. ShinWon acted quickly to distribute essential relief kits to help affected staff restore their daily lives. This initiative is more than one‑off aid—it offers tangible support to stabilize employees’ lives and contributes directly to community recovery through field‑based CSR.

ShinWon’s swift action in this unexpected crisis aligns with the core values of its 2025 CSR campaign. Operating across 15 overseas subsidiaries in five countries — Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the United States — the company is executing its CSR strategy under the slogan “Inclusive Workplace, Giving for a Brighter Tomorrow.” Its campaign focuses on four pillars:

  • Enhancing employee and community engagement
  • Supporting children and vulnerable communities
  • Empowering women in the workplace
  • Improving environmental sustainability and working conditions

Recognizing the high proportion of women workers in the fashion industry, ShinWon is committed to advancing their welfare and protecting their health rights. From June 24 to 27, the ShinWon GT, S.A subsidiary in Guatemala, in collaboration with the Pacaya Health Center, conducted a women’s health campaign. Sixteen nurses were dispatched to perform cervical cancer, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis screening, along with vaccinations. A total of 212 female workers participated, and maternity medicines were also distributed. The campaign was met with an enthusiastic response from local staff.

Other subsidiaries are supporting maternal care through maternity kits, while all ShinWon sites, including its Seoul headquarters, commemorate International Women’s Day annually to promote gender equity. The company also partners with RISE(Reimagining Industry to Support Equality), a collaborative initiative aiming to empower women workers, embed gender equality in business practice, and catalyze systems change. Through this partnership, ShinWon provides educational programs that support women’s economic independence and help build long-term support systems.

ShinWon’s initiatives for children and underserved populations include organizing Children’s Day celebrations, supporting children with disabilities, and donating to orphanages and daycare centers. The company also offers medical assistance to critically ill individuals in need of urgent care.

As part of its green management efforts, ShinWon has launched reforestation initiatives involving employees and community members. In addition, the company is improving working conditions by repairing leaking roofs, providing gas stoves to workers who use traditional firewood, and installing containers for groundwater storage.

ShinWon continues to strengthen its ties with local communities by donating essential supplies to fire and police departments, organizing family sports events, and running long-standing initiatives such as the “Building Houses with Love” project for low-income families and holiday gift-sharing campaigns. Most recently, the company donated approximately 4,400 items of clothing to support communities affected by heavy rainfall in South Korea, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to helping local residents in times of crisis.

“We will do our utmost to help our employees affected by the earthquake return to their daily lives as quickly as possible,” JJ Park, CEO of ShinWon stated, “ShinWon will continue to fulfill its role as a company that provides real, tangible support not only to local communities but also to employees during their time of greatest need.”
