China imported 178 KT of various types of cotton yarn in April 2026, surging by 66.2% as against April 2025, but fell 5.59% compared to its previous month.
In April 2026, cotton yarn imports from Vietnam were the highest and stood at 78.5 KT or an increase of 8 KT over March 2026 and accounted for around 44% of total cotton yarn imports.
In second place and accounting for 17.71% for overall cotton yarn imports, those from India reached 31.5 KT in April, but were down when considering both value and volume over the earlier month.
Cotton yarn imports from Pakistan in the month under review recorded a sharp reduction in April over March to total 21.3 KT and accounted for 11.97% of the total volume.
In the period under review, imports of carded single yarn below 8s count amounted to 31.6 KT, carded yarn between 9 and 25s reached 85.8 KT, while carded single yarn of counts between 30 and 47s totaled 18.6 KT.
China’s imports of blended cotton yarn totaled 22.4 KT in April, a five year high. Within the segment, carded single yarn in counts from 8 to 25s reached 11.2 KT.
Vietnam remains the biggest import source also for blended yarns with imports increasing with each passing quarter.
