Linping district in Hangzhou, which is the capital of Zhejiang province in China is planning to create a one-hour supply chain ecosystem by building a complete textile and garment industrial chain from design and R&D to end-user retail by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).
In order to make this project successful, the Hangzhou textile and apparel cluster in China organised a textiles and garment conference and exhibition, where a number of AI related textile and clothing applications were showcased.
The typical AI application scenarios released at the event cover multiple aspects, including R&D design, manufacturing, supply chain management, and digital marketing.
For example, in terms of AI empowering the entire silk industry chain for green intelligent manufacturing and flexible supply, the design cycle has been reduced from several days to three seconds in the manufacturing process. A robot completes the silk-laying task within 25 seconds, reducing the labour cost of silk-laying workers by 83%.
At the event, Lingdi Technology Co., Ltd. and Unicom Industrial Internet Co., Ltd. signed agreements with a number of apparel companies and industry associations. The two technology companies will assist apparel companies in their intelligent transformation through AI+3D digital design and digital transformation products, services, and system solutions.
For example, a garment manufacturer has reduced the design cycle of traditional garment samples from several weeks to two hours using AI, thereby lowering costs by 50%, and making the design and pattern-making process intelligent and efficient.
