Haryana pitches IMT Sohna as textile hub to Ahmedabad & Surat investors

Date:

Haryana is promoting IMT Sohna as a prospective hub for textile and garment production, courting entrepreneurs from Surat and Ahmedabad, with a deal expected to be struck at a meeting with textile firms in Ahmedabad on October 28.

Representatives of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) travelled to Surat and held talks with textile manufacturers.

They urged firms to invest in IMT Sohna and briefed them on available industrial plots and the process for allotting land, according to a Live Hindustan–NCR report.

HSIIDC Estate Officer Sunil Paliwal said a delegation had met business owners in Surat and Ahmedabad to draw investment into Haryana. The campaign has targeted companies working in polyester, synthetics, saree and suit fabrics, and garment manufacturing.

The investment proposition builds on Surat’s established textile ecosystem. Officials also approached leading industrial bodies and textile trade associations to discuss establishing units in Sohna and procuring bulk raw materials from Surat.

Textile entrepreneurs are expected to gather in Ahmedabad on October 28, where memorandums of understanding covering new investment and industrial projects are expected to be signed.

The report did not name the firms concerned, nor give the value of individual investments, the anticipated number of jobs or the terms of the proposed agreements.

IMT Sohna forms part of Sohna Model Township, which spans roughly 1,600 acres. Its proposed textile tie-up with Surat is also backed by road links.

According to the report, large textile consignments could reach Sohna via the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, while transporters already link Surat’s textile market with industrial and warehousing sites across the Sohna and Sohna Road belts.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini arrived in Surat on Tuesday for a two-day trip centred on talks with company representatives about investing in the state.

He is also due to meet members of Haryana’s diaspora community in Surat. State Industries Minister Rao Narbir is travelling with him, while discussions with large industries and the proposed MoU signing are slated for Ahmedabad.
