Thiagarajar Mills Private Ltd, headquartered in Madurai, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) through one of its group companies with Germany’s Euro Textiles GmbH & Co. KG.
The pact paves the way for a new textile manufacturing business in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, backed by a planned investment of Rs 100 crore.
According to a company statement, the joint venture is designed to bolster India’s export-focused textile sector by combining advanced production technology with broader reach into overseas markets.
The planned unit will produce premium 100 percent cotton jacquard fabrics, along with other value-added textile items, for overseas buyers and commercial production is expected to begin within eight months.
Plans include installing 48 state-of-the-art air-jet looms fitted with Jacquard technology, complemented by modern warping and sizing facilities.
Phase one is slated to deliver annual capacity of 3 million metres. Phase two is expected to double this to 6 million metres a year, allowing the venture to expand in step with export demand.
The second phase will target value-added technical textiles and niche patented fabrics serving the fast-growing non-conventional textile segment.
