Gujarat woos Japanese textile investors to Navsari’s PM MITRA Park

Date:

Gujarat is wooing Japanese textile manufacturers by urging them to set up production plants at the PM MITRA Park in Navsari district of Gujarat.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi made the case for the state’s end-to-end textile value chain, port access and industrial infrastructure before more than 35 textile companies gathered at a roundtable in Tokyo.

The roundtable was one of several engagements Sanghavi undertook as the Gujarat delegation toured Japan.

Positioning Gujarat as a leading textile production hub, Sanghavi pointed to the state’s strengths at every stage of the chain, running from cotton and yarn through to Surat’s synthetic textile sector.

He encouraged Japanese businesses to consider manufacturing at the Navsari park, an integrated textile site developed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F vision: Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.

According to the state government, the planned park provides plug-and-play facilities, port links and policy backing.

Attending firms signalled interest in studying investment options in Gujarat, though the official statement announced no financial commitments.

The delegation also sat down with the leadership of ITOCHU Corporation, one of Japan’s leading trading and investment houses, to discuss trade and green innovation prospects.

Founded in 1858 and boasting a well-established global textile arm, the company ranked among the principal Japanese players engaged during the trip.

“Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has emerged as Japan’s most trusted partner in India,” Sanghavi said.

“Japanese precision combined with Gujarati scale can deliver world-class textiles for global markets. PM MITRA Park stands ready to receive Japanese industry, and each partnership forged here creates more jobs for Gujarat’s young people,” he added

The meetings are part of Gujarat’s drive to draw Japanese capital into textiles, steel, chemicals, automotive components and emerging green sectors.

The state government has presented the Navsari Textile Park as a prime opportunity for Japanese manufacturers wanting an integrated production base with access to both domestic and overseas markets.
