Bangladesh’s apparel sector ended October with exports of $3.17 billion, a 4.9% lift on the $3.02 billion booked a year earlier.
Within that total, knitwear climbed 6.48% year on year to $1.77 billion, whereas woven apparel edged up 2.96% to $1.4 billion.
Experts have credited the upturn chiefly to firmer demand from the United States, where exports advanced by roughly 10%. Japan also delivered promising gains.
Knitwear maintained its lead over wovens, helped by a sturdier base of backward-linked suppliers.
With Bangladesh set to leave least developed country (LDC) status within three years, holding a competitive edge will be vital.
“Faster customs clearance, improved logistics and dependable, affordable energy supplies will be needed to keep shipments growing,” the experts noted.
