Overall exports from Bangladesh reported a strong turnaround in April 2026, driven by shipments of garments, which is the backbone of Bangladesh’s export industry.
“Total exports from Bangladesh reached US $4.02 billion in April, thereby reporting a 32.92% year on year growth and a 15.2% increase over March 2026,” according to figures released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
Notably, apparel exports expanded to $3.14 billion in April 2026 as against $2.39 billion in the same month of 2025, growing by 31.38%, reflecting robust global demand.
This export rebound has come after eight consecutive months of decline beginning from August 2025 till March 2026.
Despite the rebound in April, overall exports between July and April of the current fiscal slipped 2.02% to $39.39 billion compared with the same period of previous fiscal.
However, clothing export earnings in the July 2025 to April 2026 period zoomed 31.21% over the comparable months of the earlier fiscal to reach $31.71 billion.
All of Bangladesh’s top 20 export destinations registered positive growth during the month, with shipments to the US recording 43.01% year-on-year growth in April 2026, while those to the UK rose 23.46%.
