Bangladeshi garment exports decline 8.29% in May 2026

Bangladeshi apparel exports witnessed a decline of 8.29% to US $3.92 billion in May 2026 as against $3.59 billion in May 2025.

Knitwear exports totaled $1.97 billion in May 2026, down 8.91% year on year, while woven garment exports reached $1.62 billion, a decrease of 7.53% from a year ago period.

In the first eleven months of fiscal 2026, the clothing sector recorded exports of $35.31 billion, experiencing a 3.41% dip compared to $36.56 billion in the similar period of previous fiscal.

According to data of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), overall exports from Bangladesh reached $4.40 billion in May 2026, down 7.09% from $4.73 billion in the same month a year earlier.

In the July to May 2026 period, total export earnings fell by 2.55% to $43.79 billion, compared with $44.94 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
