China’s textile & apparel exports accelerate in June

Combined Chinese textile and clothing exports climbed to US$29.27 billion in June 2026, marking a 7.2% rise compared with the same month last year and a sharp 14.3% jump against May 2026.

Breaking the total down by category, textile shipments alone came in at $13.52 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 12.2% and a month-on-month advance of 7.4%.

According to statistics released by Chinese Customs, clothing exports, meanwhile, reached $15.75 billion, up 3.2% versus the equivalent period in 2025 and surging by a massive 21% from the previous month.

Looking at the first half of the year, textile and apparel shipments totalled $145.96 billion between January and June, edging up 1.4% on an annual basis.

Within that six-month period, textile shipments contributed $73.00 billion, a 3.5% year-on-year gain, whilst clothing shipments slipped slightly to $72.96 billion, down a marginal 0.7% against the same period in 2025.

Turning to the wider national picture, overall exports and imports reached $699.15 billion for June, a substantial 30.6% increase year-on-year and a 7.9% lift from May.

Within this, outbound shipments totalled $412.39 billion, up 27% from a year ago month and 9.5% over its previous month.

On the other hand, inbound shipments amounted to $286.76 billion, climbing 36% annually and 5.7% sequentially. The resulting trade surplus for the month stood at US$125.63 billion.

Across the opening six months of 2026, China’s combined trade in goods reached $3.67 trillion, up 21.2% versus the corresponding period a year earlier.

Of this, outbound trade for the half-year period came to $2.12 trillion, growing 17.6%, while inbound trade rose sharply to $1.54938 trillion, growing by 6.6%.

This left China with a cumulative half-year trade surplus of $575.98 billion for the six month period of 2026.
