Egyptian apparel exports climb 15% between January & April

Egypt’ apparel exports in the first four months of 2026 rose 15% from a year ago period, on the back of strong growth momentum arising from key global markets and efforts to diversify export bases.

“Garments totaling to US $1.15 billion were exported between January and April 2026 as against $1.00 billion in the same period of the earlier year,” statistics of the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AEC) said.

Clothing exports in April 2026 particularly witnessed a strong growth increasing by 33% over April 2025 to reach $287 million.

In the four months under review, exports of garments to the US, the biggest destination also rose by 13% year over year to $429 million as against $379 million.

The European Union which accounted for 44.6% of overall apparel exports also witnessed a surge, growing from $512 million, up 29% year on year.

Within the European Union, shipments to Italy alone climbed 95% year over year to $33 million during the period under review.

Fadel Marzouk, Chairperson of the Apparel Export Council of Egypt expects that clothing will grow by $1 billion in 2026 compared to 2025 and reach $4.4 billion in 2026, the highest level ever seen.
