Vietnam July textile & apparel exports climb 8.2% as against June

Date:

Vietnamese textile and clothing exports reached an estimated $4.7 billion in July 2026, up 4.3% year on year and 8.2% against June 2026.

“Across the opening seven months of 2026, textile and garment exports totaled $27.02 billion, climbing 2.67% against the equivalent stretch a year prior,” the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) said.

The growth extends beyond finished garments alone. Vietnam is likewise witnessing firmer performance within upstream categories such as fibres, fabrics, accessories and nonwoven materials.

This shift carries weight for traceability. Product-level sustainability data frequently originates upstream, spanning fibre origin, yarn production, fabric processing, dyeing and finishing.

As buyers demand firmer environmental and social data, Vietnamese suppliers face mounting pressure to document these production stages.

“Traceability is consequently becoming a facet of supply chain competitiveness, rather than merely a compliance exercise,” VITAS added.

The nation’s textile and garment imports also climbed across January to July 2026 period. Imports reached $15.26 billion during the opening seven months, up 3.27% year on year.

This demonstrates Vietnam still leans heavily on imported textile inputs even as it broadens its upstream manufacturing base.

Vietnam’s textile and clothing industry is contending with steeper costs tied to environmental, social and governance requirements alongside product traceability.

VITAS has stated that future growth will hinge increasingly on productivity, higher-value products, domestic raw material development, market diversification and digital and green transformation.

For exporters, the path ahead is evident. Growth within fibre, fabric and accessory production can hand Vietnam greater command over its supply chain.

Simultaneously, sharper digital records across these stages can help suppliers meet rising traceability requirements set by international buyers and markets.
