Indonesia introduces world’s first halal yarn. Move to strengthen local fashion industry

Date:

A collaboration between PT Milangkori Persada and Delana Halal Fashion has resulted in launch of the world’s first halal-certified textile yarn. This initiative expands scope of halal to the textile sector.

The halal-certified yarn branded as Kain Halal was launched by the Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), Haikal Hassan in a series of events held in the last week of May.

According to Haikal Hassan, the concept of halal extends beyond food and beverages to encompass a wide range of products used in everyday life, including textiles and clothing.

“Therefore, the presence of halal-certified yarn and fabric provides a guarantee of safety, comfort, and peace of mind for consumers who are concerned about the halal aspects of everyday products,” he added.

The synergy between PT Milangkori Persada and Delana Halal Fashion has created a new approach called the Yarn-to-Fashion Halal Ecosystem.

This concept ensures that halal values are applied comprehensively, from yarn production through fabric processing to ready-to-wear clothing.

PT Milangkori Persada is a pioneer in the development of halal materials, focusing on building a more transparent, responsible, and sharia-compliant textile industry.

On the other hand, Delana Halal Fashion will play a significant role in transforming this halal-certified textile yarn into fashion garments.

Delana views halal as a value that must be implemented comprehensively, from raw material selection and production processes to the treatment of workers, all the way to the end product.

The launch of halal-certified textile yarn demonstrates that halal innovation can begin at the earliest stages of the production process.

Through this innovation, Indonesia is not only introducing new products to the global halal market but also establishing new standards in a more comprehensive and sustainable halal fashion industry.
