In the first four months of 2026, the United States imported apparels totaling to US $23.08 billion from various countries, down 12% from $26.22 billion imported in the same period of 2025.
So, while garment imports from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia posted positive growth, those from other countries witnessed declines.
Vietnam continued to retain its position as the largest garment exporter to the US in the review period reaching $5.16 billion, up 1.31% year on year with a market share of 22.47%.
On the other hand, Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United States declined 11.24% to $2.65 billion in the months under review as against $2.98 billion in the comparable months of 2025, with a market share of 10.53%.
“Chinese clothing exports plunged 50.21% from a year ago period to $2.17 billion between January and April 2026 and market share fell to 11.30%,” data from the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) said..
Indonesia witnessed its apparel exports rising 2.27% to $1.64 billion, while those from India slipped sharply by 28.03% to $1.44 billion and from Cambodia rose 14.07% to $1.40 billion.
US imports from Mexico dipped 8.11% to $777.25 million, from Pakistan by 12.18% to $658.37 million, and from Honduras by 12.92% to $560.06 million.
