Vietnam fibre exports outpace garments growth in Jan-July

Date:

Vietnam’s textile and garment exports reached over US $27 billion in the first seven months of 2026, a 2.67% increase compared to the same period last year.

Notably, this growth was not only driven by garments but also supported by breakthroughs in fibres, fabrics, and accessories, indicating that the industry is gradually increasing its value-added share in the supply chain.

In July 2026, textile and garment exports reached $4.67 billion, an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous month and a 4.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Garments remain a key product group, reaching approximately $21.12 billion in the first seven months, a 0.7% increase year-on-year.

The highlights lie in the upstream product groups. Exports of fibres totalled $2.73 billion, an increase of 11.34%; textile accessories mounted to $929 million, up 1.18%; and fabrics were $1.76 billion, a rise of 9.57%, all growing over a year ago period.

Exports of nonwoven fabrics also touched $471 million in the January to July months, growing by 6.56%.

This development indicates a shift in the industry’s export structure. Besides maintaining its strength in garment manufacturing, Vietnamese businesses are gradually expanding into the supply of raw materials, semi-finished products, and supporting services, thereby increasing value in the production chain.

On the import side, the textile and garment imported $15.255 billion in the first seven months, an increase of 3.27%.

Of this, fabric imports were $8.93 billion, rising 2.08%; accessories touched $2.60 billion, up 3.6%; and raw cotton reached $1.88 billion, an increase of 1.02%.
